What we eat determines the way we look, feel and how we live. In fact, how we eat our food and in what form do we get our daily nutrition from, does affect our overall health. Foods with excess fats and calories are known to be one of the main aggravating causes of acne. Women who consume many fatty foods tend to have a dull looking skin and are also vulnerable to a lot of spots and marks on the face.
Experts advise that it is important to modify the forms of foods we have. For instance, potatoes are extremely good for the skin, but become quite harmful for the skin when they are fried. Steamed or boiled potatoes are often advisable and more useful to your skin health. Similarly, effort should be made to steam whatever vegetables and food products we can, instead of deep-frying or even cooking them in oil.
Your skin needs vitamin rich foods with E, A and C in it. Fish, protein rich foods (like poultry), green leafy veggies, and fruits (eg. avocados, grapefruit, oranges) are all good for your skin. Remember you are what you eat/drink. Avoid junk those foods!
Here are a list of foods that are good for your skin (by no means complete though):
- Avocados
- Apples
- Bananas
- Bread
- Carrots
- Chicken
- Citrus
- Green leafy veggies
- Green Tea
- Lettuce
- Milk
- Oranges
- Pineapple
- Pears
- Tomatoes
- Turkey
- Yogurt
- Water, lots and lots of water
- And exercise regularly (not a food of course, but worth to mention it).
In order to maintain a beautiful skin, you must eat right. If you are not getting the essential nutrients and adequate hydration, not only your skin but also your overall health will suffer. So next time if you think of a candy bar, pick up a fruit instead. Instead of drinking beer or cola, grab a bottle of water.
