When it comes to health and fitness, weight loss is always the first thing many people think of. The obsession to lose weight in order to look good is prevalent amongst all age groups and almost in a strong intensity.
However, as we always say that excess of everything is bad, the same is the case with weight loss as well, especially for your skin. Well, to begin with, excessive weight loss, especially that occurs over a short period of time leads to loosening of the skin and development of the much-dreaded stretch marks.
Stretch marks are formed due to overstretching of the skin, this usually happens during pregnancy, weight gain and also excessive weight loss. When the skin is overstretched, the dermis (the middle layer of the skin) is damaged causing the formation of stretch marks. These pink, red or purplish-blue lines appear on the abdomen, thighs or buttocks.
To get rid of stretch marks, many people apply coconut oil in the morning and olive oil at night. Olive oil contains lots of vitamin E, which is a vitamin that is especially helpful for the skin. Use lots of olive oil before going to bed.
Besides, excessive weight loss is often accompanied by an overall weakness in body, which will be reflected in your complexion. Your skin needs a regular supply of rich nutrients, both through the diet and cosmetics. When you are on a spree to lose weight, this often gets ignored and the impact soon begins to show on your skin.
