There are many causes of oily skin. Heredity, hormones, glands, and birth control can all play a part. Just as there are many causes, there are also many cures. Here are some simple and natural oily skin care tips.
Washing
For those who have oily skin, the first most important thing to remember is to wash the face with mild soap and warm water everyday. This will help dissolve the oil. Do not wash your face too often (three times a day at the most). Washing too often will make your skin flake or worse, it makes the skin work overtime by producing even more oil to make up for the lost oil. This is a process called seborrhea.
The best soaps for oily skin are oil based. The popular one is a soap made with avocado oil. Also, stay away from cleansers that contain alcohol because they are too harsh and will strip your skin.
Simply rinsing your face with cool water will close the pours and refine them naturally. Another tip for oily skin care is to not touch your face with dirty hands. The bacteria and dirt will stimulate the oil production. The introduction of bacteria to your face can also cause blemishes.
Natural Treatments
There are several natural oily skin care treatments that you can make at home to stem your skin’s oil production. One way is to make a mask of powdered oatmeal and water and then apply it daily for thirty minutes a day. Oatmeal is a natural oil absorber. A clay or mud mask will do the same thing for your face without drying it out. You can make one of these masks by mixing green clay powder with raw honey, and leaving it on for fifteen to thirty minutes.
Products
If you decide to use commercial products, remember to look for ones that are all-natural and oil free. This goes for makeup, lotions, creams, etc. A dusting of color-free powder is good for soaking up excess of oil when washing is not convenient. Look for powders that are made for oily skin.
Natural oily skin care is simple once the rules are taken to heart and used on a continual basis.
