Pregnancy is one of the times when your whole body system is undergoing a major changes or upheavals. From physical changes to mental metamorphosis, everything comes under the weather, for good or for worse.
Your skin may also be affected during pregnancy. Effects or changes on your skin are common during pregnancy and don’t pose a serious health risk but make sure you check with your GP if serious problems such as blistering last more than a few days.
Skin is the largest organ that holds our body together and it’s now accommodating another human being inside. As is evident from this, the first and most prominent impact on your skin is that of stretch marks. As your skin stretches to make more space, it leads to the purplish or pinkish stretch marks in the process.
Physical weakness can also happen due to pregnancy. Many women suffer from iron deficiencies and the like during their pregnancy. When this happens, it shows on your skin in a form of paleness, under-eye dark circles and forming of acne. Acne can appear during pregnancy even you may not have experienced having acne since your adolescence. This is due to increased hormones are produced, they also cause the increased production of sebum, blocking pores and resulting in greasy skin and pimples.
The best form of skin care during pregnancy is having enough rests and learning to relax. If you feel stressful, your skin will suffer.
Your skin can become dry easily during pregnancy. Therefore, it is important to keep the skin hydrated using a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin and acceptable by your obstetrician. Dry skin also gets aggravated during pregnancy because your body need ample of water as your growing baby needs them for nourishment. Therefore, don’t forget to drink plenty of water during pregnancy.
Use moisturizers and sun block creams to revitalize your skin. Avoid excessive sunlight exposure, make sure you always apply sun block cream first before stepping out.
Last but not least, make sure that your diet includes plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits each day.
